NORTH FORT MYERS, FLA — The owners of a 14-year-old pit bull named Kilo, say they're still processing this news:

"He got shot three times," said Travis Taylor.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Kilo was shot and left for dead in a wooded area near his home.

Travis and his wife, Shannon, say he was found by someone who was walking through.

"I just want him to come home," Taylor said.

Kilo's owners say they think they know how he left, but they have no idea why he'd return with bullet wounds.

"He's got a track record of getting out. I've already had to buy him back and get him chipped," Taylor said.

The internet and their neighbors, however, have different ideas. Many have posted to Facebook, saying that the Taylors are the ones who shot Kilo, because kilo bit their daughter in the face.

"It hurts for everyone to even say that I killed my dog," he said.

Travis says they want to clear the air once and for all.

"I did not kill my dog," he said.

And they say they have this message for whoever shot the dog:

"I hope they get what they deserve," Taylor said.

It's a person that the manager of Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Trish Routte, says they're eager to get off the streets.

"Somebody that's got the capacity to do that to a dog, what would they do to a human being if someone crossed them the wrong way?" she said.

Routte adds that whoever shot Kilo, will be facing felony charges.
