One victim identified in shooting on SE 16th Place in Cape Coral

UPDATE 4:30 P.M.:
On March 30, around 10 pm, the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a shooting in the 900 block of SE 16th Place.

Officers arrived quickly and found one subject in the residence had been shot.

The victim, Nelson Leyva, 28, of Lehigh Acres, received medical attention and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. FOX 4 will bring you updates as things develop.


UPDATE (9:36 AM)--
The Cape Coral Police Department responded to a shooting in the 900 block of SE 16th Place.

When officers arrived they found one subject in the residence that had been shot.

The subject received medical attention and was transported to a local hospital.

Major Crimes Detectives and Forensic Specialists arrived on the scene and assumed the investigation.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.


Cape Coral Police are on the corner of SE 9th Terrace and SE 16th Place conducting an shooting investigation.

Cape Coral Police say the call went out at 9:53 pm Tuesday.

CCPD has the entire corner of the two streets roped off with crime scene tape.

It appears that the house located on the southeast side of the intersection is the focal point of the investigation.

No other information has been released at this time.
