One injured in 4-vehicle crash on I-75 in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- One driver is lucky to come away with just minor injuries after a chain reaction crash that left their SUV demolished.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near the Alico Road exit (#128).

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a box truck attempted to pull onto I-75 from the shoulder but entered the path of a Hyundai SUV.  The SUV hit the rear of the truck and was subsequently struck by two other vehicles.

The SUV's driver, 30-year-old Cory Jefferson of Lehigh Acres, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

There were no injuries reported to the other drivers.

The truck's driver, 32-year-old Dustin Patterson, was cited for careless driving.
