The pandemic has made it challenging for families to see their loved ones in nursing homes and this can be a lonely time for many seniors.
Technology is helping the way we communicate especially during these times and nursing homes are using all the tools they can get to help our seniors stay connected.
Many nursing homes in the State have turned to a new game designed to help seniors during the pandemic, it’s called Restore Skills.
Like any other game, seniors are working on motor skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and also cognitive skills, “Eran Arden, CEO Restore Skills.
Arden tells Fox 4 they designed the game when the pandemic started as a way to help and motivate the patients to move.
“When they are isolated in the rooms it is difficult, we all need to communicate, we all need to meet our loved ones,” said Arden.
Loved ones can play a game with their family and it's fun and engaging.
“Suddenly we have a conversation not about the food today or what are you wearing or how is the weather today and instead they are playing a slot machine together or bingo game together and compete against each other,” said Arden.
