NORTH PORT, Fla. — North Port Police have arrested a man accused of homicide.
According to a report, North Port Police arrived at a residence on the 220 block of Yancy Street in response to a possible suicide attempt.
Upon arrival, a female was located with life-threatening wounds. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Through the course of an investigation, detectives were able to determine that this was not a self-inflicted incident.
Police were able to locate Clinton Pittman, 38, and link him to the crime.
Pittman was charged with Homicide, Tampering with Evidence, and two counts of Possession of Firearm as a Felon.
Pittman is familiar with the victim, and this was not a random act of violence.
There is no threat to the nearby community.
