FORT MYERS, Fla. — On Feb. 1, the Fort Myers City Council will vote on a project survey required in the development of construction plans for a neighborhood park at the former controversial toxic sludge site in Dunbar.
The City of Fort Myers completed the cleanup of the lime residuals at the site in May 2019. As directed by City Council, a steering committee was set up to determine the final use of the property. After public meetings and a neighborhood survey, it was determined that the property should be used for a neighborhood park and stormwater facilities to alleviate nuisance flooding in the area.
On June 17, 2019, Council approved the awarding of Surveying And Mapping Services, a continuing contract to Barraco & Associates, Inc. for a period of five years.
Friday, the council will vote on a supplemental authorization to the company in the amount of $170,600.00 for surveying services related to the proposed neighborhood park and associated drainage at 3348 South Street, also known as City View Park.
