LEE COUNTY, Fla. – JROTC students will get a first-hand look Monday at the brand new JROTC building at Lehigh Senior High School.

The program has more than 1,300 cadets, and the new facility can accommodate 2,600 students.

With a total of 73,000 square feet, the first floor is the home of a multi-purpose room and classrooms for those in JROTC. There are also 700 new student stations, with the second floor providing additional classrooms.

The $13 million expansion was funded by the half cent sales tax.

"So we are going to have enough space to be able to do everything we want, especially with the weather here in Florida," says Lt. Colonel Senior Tim Walter.

"ROTC really presents people with a lot of opportunities to grow as leaders, follow their strengths, and find their passions, and whatever they end up getting out of the program. And I feel like this will allow more space and opportunity for that," says Cadet Colonel Suzette Brito.

The building officially opens Monday, even though there are a few finishing touches that are being finished.
