FORT MYERS, Fla. -- We are learning new details about the City of Fort Myers Public Works Department's overtime and payroll practices after an outside firm conducted an audit.

Fox 4 recently acquired the 1200-plus page report.

The city asked for an investigation after one of the employees reported to law enforcement that one of the senior supervisors submitted hours he did not work and sometimes even required his employees to do the same.

It also says that same manager favored a select group with overtime opportunities.

Records show that seven employees received the bulk of overtime hours, 60% of the total Public Works operations.

One employee's gross pay was 51% in overtime wages, alone. With overtime, three supervisors made more money than their superintendent.

There are other issues addressed in the report, including allegations of retaliation for turning down overtime and favoritism.

Stick with Fox 4 as this is an ongoing story.

As Fox 4 reported last month, two supervisors were fired and five others reprimanded following the audit.

Fort Myers Police are currently conducting a criminal investigation.
