FORT MYERS, Fla. — Neighbors and those who knew the victim, off camera told Fox 4 this was not a random act of violence but one that was planned.

Tonight Fort Myers Police are still investigating after a body was found last night on Markland and Michigan avenue. Police received a shot spotter alert around 4:35 pm. Upon arrival police blocked off the streets, after a male body was found in the area.

“This did happen while it was still daylight, we we would implore anyone that witnessed anything even if they didn’t see the actual shooting but may have just seen someone acting suspicious or running away that they please give us a call,” said Sergeant Lesa Breneman with Fort Myers Police Department.

Investigators say they're looking for a male suspect in dark clothing. At this time police are not sure if the suspect fled by car or by foot. The family of the victim requested to invoke Marcy's Law, so his name will not be released at any time.

Right now police say they believe this to be an isolated incident.

“We do have someone that shot someone else that we do not have in custody right now. I believe this to be an isolated incident this singular shooting so if anyone has any information about this that can help us take this shooter off the street as quick as possible we would really like to talk to them”, said Sergeant Breneman.

Now according to neighbors and those who personally knew the victim, off camera told me the victim was involved in a love triangle, and might have been set up by the other two parties involved. At this time Fort Myers Police have not confirmed these statements but are asking for the public helps to get this shooter off the streets to prevent another senseless act of violence.
