CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Police were assisted by several neighbors in the arrest of a man they say committed a burglary during daylight hours.

It happened around 3pm on Saturday in the 200 block of SE 45th Terrace.

According to Cape Coral Police, neighbors reported seeing a white male breaking and entering into the window of a home. One neighbor watched as the man then left the residence running north with a black box in his hands, while other callers began calling and reporting the suspect fleeing over fences and through yards.

Officers on foot searching the perimeter located and caught the suspect matching the description, identified as 20-year-old Cole Manns, who was positively identified as the man who had broken into the home. He had also been seen throwing a pill bottle into a canal which was retrieved by officers. This pill bottle had the address of the burglarized home on it, and Manns was in possession of 4 of the pills which he himself did not have a prescription for.

Manns was placed under arrest and charged with unoccupied burglary of a dwelling, grand theft, criminal mischief, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He was transported to the Lee County Jail.
