Mothers Against Drunk Driving to host fishing competition in honor of man who lost his life to impaired captain in 2016

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The Fort Myers Police Department along with MADD Southwest Florida will be hosting a friendly competition for the longest snook, redfish, and sea trout.

It will take place on April 24th, 2021 from 7 am to 3 pm.

Anglers can dock their boat or take it out of the water and bring it along to Overtime Pizzeria and Sports Pub, 1708 Cape Coral Parkway West, Cape Coral, FL 33914.

The competition was started in honor of Dylan Gonzalezwho was an avid angler who spent hours fishing since he was little. In 2016 Dylan lost his life in an accident caused by an underage impaired captain.

MAAD and Dylan’s family want to raise awareness for the importance of being a sober and responsible captain.
