FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. -- Lee County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a robbery on Fort Myers Beach, Tuesday morning, that left one man injured.

An investigation began on Mango Street, off Estero Boulevard around 9 in the morning. Neighbors said around 8 o'clock, they heard some banging at a nearby apartment. One neighbor discovered a young man with his face covered in blood, and gashes on his head, outside of the condo building. Blood splatter was still visible on the victim's front door. Another neighbor said he heard a gunshot around 4 AM.

Lee County Sheriff's deputies spent about 4 hours investigating the unit in which the victim lives, where they say a robbery took place. Neighbors tell Fox 4 an ambulance took the victim to the hospital.

Fox 4 is still working to find out who was involved in this robbery and if law enforcement has anyone in custody. This remains an active investigation. However, there is no danger to the public, the Lee County Sheriff's Office says.
