Monday events to honor MLK Jr. throughout SWFL

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- There are several events taking place on Monday throughout Southwest Florida to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

In Fort Myers, the annual MLK Day Parade starts at 11:00 a.m. at the Dunbar Jupiter Hammon Library. 4 In Your Corner's Patrick Nolan will be at the event.

Also, in Ft. Myers a reenactment of the civil rights marches will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Roberto Clemente Park. From 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. there will be a multicultural celebration at Centennial Park honoring Dr. King's legacy.

In Cape Coral, an MLK Unity Day Celebration will start at 8:30 at the Oasis High School Gym.

Punta Gorda will celebrate with a parade starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Civic Center in downtown.

In Naples, you can head to the MLK Jr. parade. It starts at 11:00 a.m. and ends with a celebration at Cambier Park. The event will be emceed by 4 In Your Corner's Tony Sadiku and Deborah Souverain.
