FORT MYERS, Fla. -- People in a Fort Myers neighborhood were in disbelief, Saturday, after deputies busted a meth lab in their Fort Myers mobile home park earlier this week.

Lee County deputies arrested Karen Atkins and Anthony Mimmo on Thursday, after they were found living in a mobile home on Nuna Avenue, close to Glenwood Avenue, which they appeared to be using as a meth lab. Neighbors told Fox 4 the saw 6-8 deputies swarm the home. "They were dressed in those hazmat suits," said Wayne Rowles. "It's kind of scary to learn something like that is in here."

Neighbors told Fox 4 the neighborhood is usually quiet.

After deputies entered the home, they found glass bottles with cloudy liquids, plastic bottles covered in crystallized substances, drain cleaner, batteries, wal-dryl cold tablets, and a gas generator. All things used to make meth. According to the USDA, those chemicals could easily cause an explosion if they come in contact with a spark.

Upon testing, deputies discovered those substances did contain methamphetamine. Atkins claims she had no idea there were meth items in the home, despite deputies finding the gas generator in her bedroom.
