LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A man in Lehigh Acres has been arrested for aggravated animal cruelty.
Lee County Sheriff Office Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home off of Rushmore Avenue on reports of animal cruelty Thursday.
A witness told deputies they heard a dog yelling and its owner, later identified as Ivan Garcia, screaming at it.
The sheriff's office said when deputies arrived, they noticed the black pitbull, Kano, had several lacerations and scars on his face. They say Garcia also had blood and dog hair on him.
Kano was evaluated at Lee County Domestic Animal Services and detectives issued a search warrant for Garcia's home. They found animal blood on the walls and other evidence indicating Kano had been severely beaten.
Garcia was booked at the Lee County Jail and faces a felony charge for aggravated animal cruelty.
