NAPLES, Fla. — Investigators say Adolph Barrientes Perez Jr. set fire to a dumpster behind ABC Liquor at 2755 U.S. 41 E., around noon on Feb. 10. The dumpster was 10 to 15 feet from the business. Greater Naples Fire was able to extinguish the fire before it could spread.

This is the second time since December that a dumpster has been set on fire at the store.

A witness reported seeing Perez tampering with something inside the dumpster before he stood and looked at it for several seconds as smoke started billowing out.

The witness described him as a bald man in a light blue shirt, and stated that he rode away on a red three-wheeled bicycle once he realized he was being watched.

Deputies say Perez fits the description, lives in a nearby apartment and has previous arson arrests.

When deputies located Perez at his apartment, his red three-wheeled bike was parked out front and a bottle of lighter fluid was sitting by the front door.

The witness also identified Perez as the man who started the fire.

Perez, 55, of 1720 Wild Pines Court, was arrested and is facing charges of felony second-degree arson.

In 2017, Perez was arrested in connection with a fire at Family Dollar, 2888 U.S. 41 E. He was found guilty of criminal mischief over $1,000 in that case.

He was also arrested in Collier County in December on two counts of second-degree arson. The charges were later dropped due to insufficient evidence, records show.
