LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies arrested a homeless man for two armed robberies that occurred this week.

On Wednesday, Dec. 16, deputies say Christopher McLain, 31, was wearing a light grey sweater and a red bandana slightly covering his face when he entered Stamatis Family Restaurant, 1830 N. Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers. He was wielding a knife and demanding money. The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and McLain fled on foot.

The next evening, another robbery occurred at Publix Supermarket, 4065 Hancock Bridge Pkwy., in Cape Coral. McLain entered the pharmacy area of the store with a knife, demanding medications from behind the counter.

When deputies arrived, McLain was being held by a group of good Samaritans who quickly jumped into action to stop him.

McLain is facing two counts of robbery with a weapon and one outstanding violation of probation warrant for robbery.
