LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A loggerhead sea turtle is back in the Gulf of Mexico after about 3 weeks of rehab at CROW on Sanibel.

The volunteer group Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife rescued the turtle on May 29th when it was found floating upside down in the surf.

CROW determined the sea turtle had red tide poisoning.

Before being released near Fort Myers Beach, the turtle was tagged with a passive integrated transponder tag and a flipper tag on each of its front flippers.

This is the fifth sea turtle in 2018 to be treated and released from the clinic for red tide poisoning.
