LEE COUNTY, Fla. — People in Lee County are fired up about lime rock mining.

They attended an open house Wednesday where Lee County commissioners discussed an amendment calling to eliminate the need for a demand study and Map 14.

Many city leaders and residents voiced their concerns with the amendment.

Many of them feared getting rid of Map 14, which would make it easier for more mines to come into the area -- ultimately putting our water quality at risk.
