FORT MYERS, Fla. — Lee Health and Lee County have partnered up to launch their 'Together, We Can' campaign to encourage safe practices to protect Southwest Florida and minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Lee County and Lee Health officials have been working together since the start of the pandemic to educate the public about the Coronavirus.

The pair will be utilizing videos, social media ads, radio spots, digital billboards and more to make the public more aware of the campaign.

The campaign will be using CDC guidelines as the main elements to encourage their message to Southwest Florida.

CDC guidelines recommend practices like sanitizing high touch areas, avoiding touching the face and coughing or sneezing into your elbow.

Dr. Larry Antonucci, Lee Health President & CEO believes the campaign will remind residents of the importance of COVID-19 safety precautions.

“Now, more than ever it’s important to continue to follow safety precautions that we have been advocating since the start of the virus,” said Antonucci.

Dr. Antonucci also believes that their community should continue health precautions because the virus will be a part of our lives for some time.

“The virus will continue to be a part of our lives for some time and it’s vital that we don’t let our guard down or get complacent in the fight. Together, we can stop the spread,” Antonucci added.

The campaign will also recieve the help of the Florida Department of Health, Lee County School District, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County Emergency Medical Services.

Brian Hamman, Chairman of the Lee Board of County Commissioners says he appreciates Lee Health for making efforts to keep the community safe from the virus.

“We must all come together and do our part to keep our friends and family safe, provide help for those who need it and safely keep our businesses open. Together, we can protect the things we love about Southwest Florida,” said Hamman.

The campaign will run for the remainder of the summer. For more information, visit LeeHealth.org and LeeGov.com/covid-19.
