Lee County operations adjust schedules for the holidays

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Most Lee County administrative operations will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday, as well as on Thursday, Dec. 31, and Friday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s holiday.

The holiday schedule adjustments:

Solid Waste

Solid Waste offices and the Topaz Court Solid Waste Annex will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. The Resource Recovery Facility in Buckingham will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25, but open regular hours on Thursday, Dec. 24.

All garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections in unincorporated Lee County, the City of Bonita Springs, the Village of Estero, and the Town of Fort Myers Beach that is normally picked up on Friday, will be collected on Saturday, Dec. 26, and Saturday, Jan. 2. Regular collection schedules resume on Monday, Jan. 4.

Christmas trees that have had the stand and all lights and decorations removed, including tinsel, can be set out with regular yard waste and will be ground into mulch. All wrapping paper, except metallic, is recyclable – along with cardboard boxes. Plastic ribbons and bows are not recyclable.

LeeTran

LeeTran will operate its regularly scheduled bus service on Thursday, Dec. 24. There will be no bus, trolley, or Passport service on Friday, Dec. 25. Bus service will resume on Saturday, Dec. 26.

Parks & Recreation

Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25, beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will be open. The Administrative office, recreation centers, community centers and Six Mile Cypress Slough Interpretive Center will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. The centers will resume normal operating hours Saturday, Dec. 26. The Administration office resumes normal operating hours Monday, Dec. 28. The community swimming pools will be closed Friday, Dec. 25, through Monday, Dec. 28; resuming normal operating hours Tuesday, Dec. 29.

Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 1, beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will be open. Library System

Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec.25: All libraries will be closed. Libraries will resume current, limited hours on Saturday, Dec. 26.

Thursday, Dec. 31, and Friday, Jan. 1: All libraries will be closed. Libraries will resume current, limited hours on Saturday, Jan. 2.

Lee County Domestic Animal Services

Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25, the Lost & Found Pet Center and the Pet Adoption Center will be closed. Normal hours resume Saturday, Dec. 26, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers.

Thursday, Dec. 31, and Friday, Jan. 1, the Lost & Found Pet Center and the Pet Adoption Center will be closed. Normal hours resume Saturday, Jan. 2.

Lee County Utilities

The Customer Service Lobby, 7391 College Parkway, remains closed to the public.

The drive-thru window will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25, and will reopen Monday, Dec. 28. The drive-thru window will be closed Thursday, Dec. 31, and Friday, Jan. 1, and will reopen on Jan. 4.

A drop-box is on-site at the front door and another is accessible via the drive-thru for payments by check.

A drop-box is also available at the Lee County Community Development/Public Works Center located at 1500 Monroe St., Fort Myers (near the eastern entrance on Monroe Street).

The Call Center will be closed Thursday, Dec 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. It will reopen Monday, Dec. 28, then close Thursday, Dec. 31, and Friday, Jan. 1. It will reopen Monday, Jan. 4.
