LEE COUNTY, Fla-- The 2nd annual "Flip this Kennel" is taking place at Lee County Domestic Animal Services. The event aims to raise awareness for pet adoptions in SWFL, specifically for larger animals that are often overlooked.

"The big dogs stay a little bit longer because we are a high rent area so people can’t have the bigger dogs,” said Karen Fordiani.

This year's event theme is Dr. Seuss, with local organizations donating time and money to decorate kennels with different sayings from Dr.Seuss books. Each kennel is a different theme like Horton Hears a Who, Green Eggs and Ham and The Lorax.

Adoption fees are reduced by $25 through March. If you bring in a children's book you can get an additional $10 off. All books will be donated to the Children's Advocacy Center.

The adoption center is open Monday- Saturday 10:30 to 3:30 p.m.

You can stop by the LCDAS: 5600 Banner Dr. Fort Myers, FL
