UPDATE 8:30 PM:
Investigators say the golf cart was eastbound on Leesure Lane, when a sedan traveling southbound on US41 struck the left side of the golf cart as it traveled into the intersection.
An 86-year-old Fort Myers woman died in the crash.
The driver of the sedan, a 20-year-old woman from Cape Coral, was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
UPDATE 7:30 PM:
All lanes of traffic have reopened.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is on scene of a crash with a reported fatality at the intersection of N. Cleveland Avenue and Leesure Lane in North Fort Myers.
All Southbound lanes are closed and traffic is currently being diverted for an undetermined amount of time while FHP works the investigation.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
