CAPE CORAL, Fla., - Lee County Sheriff’s detectives intercepted two marijuana-laden packages Friday, according to a press release.
In the first investigation, detectives found a package sent from a Las Vegas address to a home on 8th street in Cape Coral. A search warrant was issued and Glenford Lewis, 60, of Cape Coral was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and smuggle marijuana into the state.
Detectives found 4.5 pounds of marijuana in the package.
In a second investigation, detectives found a package sent from a Long Beach address to a home on 19th place in Cape Coral.
Two people were arrested -- Donavan Mott, 26, and Alysia Kirk, 27, -- after detectives found vacuum sealed packages and bags of marijuana. Over $9,000 cash was also recovered.
Detectives then went to their home and arrested Hubert Burrows, 20, on a search warrant after detectives say there was a strong smell of marijuana in the home.
Detectives found 12 pounds of additional marijuana, a money counting machine, scales, a vacuum-sealer, and other items consistent with drug packaging and sales inside the home. The original parcel contained 5 pounds of marijuana. Detectives also found a loaded Glock 17 9mm pistol with a high capacity magazine and a loaded 50 round 9 mm drum magazine inside the home.
The three are all facing drug related charges.
Mott is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Neighbors tell 4 In Your Corner they’ve seen plenty of visitors and heard a lot of noise.
“There’s tons of cars coming and going. Its all day long,” said Steven Rule, a neighbor. “There's a lot of screaming going on, a lot of kids screaming.”
A DCF worker was also at the home Friday.
