JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - According to the Associated Press, a sheriff with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says they will look into adding security near the Jacksonville Landing after a 24-year-old man shot and killed two people, injured several others then killed himself during a video game tournament on Sunday.

Unfortunately, this was not the only shooting that occurred in Downtown Jacksonville over the weekend. A 19-year-old man was shot and killed, and two other teens were injured at a football gameat Raines High School Friday night. Police have not identified any suspects. The high school is less than 7 miles from the Jacksonville Landing.

Also, back in 2017, two teens were shot near Hemming Park, which is less than a mile away from the Landing. Twelve days after that, a 16-year-old was shot and killed and a 13-year-old was wounded in a double shooting in front of the Jacksonville Landing.

After the 2015 Zombicon Shooting in Downtown Fort Myers, city council approved of adding 49 high definition security cameras on light posts downtown. Officials also canceled Zombicon and added extra police patrols in that area.
