GOLDEN GATE, Fla. — A Collier County man is under arrest for trying to cash checks he stole from mailboxes in Golden Gate.
Adriel Rivero, 21 attempted to cash two checks totaling nearly $1,400 at First Florida Integrity Bank.
The checks belonged to a local business and were made payable to AT&T and the City of Naples, who Rivero said he worked for.
Employees asked to see his identification; Rivero presented a Cuban passport.
Bank Employees alerted deputies for the possibility that he may be trying to cash stolen checks.
Deputies met Rivero outside, and when questioned, Rivero admitted to trying to cash the checks.
Rivero was arrested and booked into the jail.
