COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — The Gene Doyle Memorial Foundation is offering adventure scholarships for Collier County high school Juniors, Seniors, and recent graduates between the ages of 16 to 21.

If selected, the foundation will award students up to $5,500 to go on a structured adventure through one of three programs: Outward Bound, National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), or the Alaska Mountaineering School. Students could go Yukon backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, or sea kayaking.

The scholarship fund adventure trips range throughout North and South America and last between two weeks and one month. The Memorial Foundation reviews applications based on the passion to explore and not student grades.

Finalists will be interviewed on Thursday, March 30, 2021. Scholarship recipients will be announced the following day, March 31, 2021.

Students can complete the application online by clicking here.

All applications must be submitted by March 12, 2021.

Adventure scholarships are supported by proceeds from the annual Gene Doyle Backcountry Catch and Release Fishing Tournament. For more information about the scholarship or Fishing Tournament, click here.
