CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - In the first hours after the U.S. airstrike against Syria, crude oil prices rose about 2%.
Overnight U.S. gas prices went up three cents. Right now the average unleaded price per gallon is $2.39.
Syria does not produce a lot of oil, but its allies are major producers.
"Geopolitical tensions have surged between some of the world's largest oil producers, and the market, with concern abounding, will likely send oil prices higher," said gas buddy analyst, Patrick DeHaan.
In southwest Florida, the cheapest gas prices are in Charlotte County. On average, prices are at $2.37.
Lee County is at $2.39 and Collier County is at $2.43.
Florida’s average gas price is at $2.41, placing the state two cents higher than the national average.
