LEE COUNTY, Fla.-- Students in all Lee County Public Schools will get free breakfast and lunch this upcoming school year. This is the first time both meals will be provided to students free, and it is all thanks to a federal program.

Breanna Gustafson, who works for Lee County School Food and Nutrition services, says the "Farm to School" program will let students grow their own food. "It gets the kids excited about eating because they are growing it out in the garden and then seeing it on their trays", says Gustafson.

More than 80,000 students will get free meals. Parents won't need to apply or fill out "free and reduced" meal applications. The meals will simply be available to students in their school cafeteria.
