Summerlin Jake's Seafood and Steaks in Fort Myers recently closed its doors for good, leaving 40 employees jobless.

Melanie Bodner has been an employee at this restaurant for three years and she said the employees received a text message two days before it closed.

"She threw us all out like a piece of trash," Bodner said.

The general manager of Summerlin Jake's, Craig Hoemke, said everyone was notified right when it happened.

He said, "They were told as soon as I was told."

Hoemke and the new owner say they will keep as many previous employees for the new restaurant as they can, but Bodner said she won't go back.

"Absolutely not. There would be no way I would," she said.

The new restaurant hopes to open its doors before the end of this year.
