CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A 74-year-old man was killed and a passenger was injured in a single car crash on U.S. 17 in Punta Gorda Tuesday afternoon.
Ronald Rief of Fort Myers was pronounced dead at Bayfront Punta Gorda following the crash.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Rief was driving southbound on U.S. 17/Duncan Road approaching Interstate 75 when his car ran off the roadway and hit a tree and a fence.
74-year-old Diane Rief sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Bayfront Punta Gorda for treatment.
