Fort Myers Aquatic Center to close for million dollar upgrades

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Aquatic Center on 1750 Matthew Drive will be closed for approximately four months for construction, barring unforeseen equipment delays due to COVID-19.

The Aquatic Center is going through a $1.2 million facility upgrade to include pool resurfacing, tile replacement, and installation of modern filtration technologies beginning April 12.

To accommodate patrons and members, the Golfview Pool, located at 1865 Golfview Avenue, will offer extended hours. During leisure swim, two lap lanes will remain open for lap swimmers.

  • Lap swim Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Leisure swim Monday through Friday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Weekend leisure swim hours Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Current members holding a valid six-month or annual membership will get an extension for the duration of the closure. During the closure, no Funbrella rentals, pavilion rentals, or summer camps will be allowed.

Hours and limitations are subject to change based on seasonal demand.

The facility staff is arranging a limited group swim lesson schedule.
