CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A former member of the Oregon Ducks football team is facing numerous charges after he reportedly attacked his ex-girlfriend in her Cape Coral home Monday.

32-year-old Tyrece Gaines is charged with Domestic Violence, Domestic Violence Battery by Strangulation, Violation of Domestic Violence Injunction for being at victims house against court order, Violation of Domestic Violence Injunction for possession a firearm, Possession Of Firearm by Convicted Felon, and False Imprisonment.

According to a Cape Coral Police report, on Monday morning, the female victim's neighbor called police reporting that Gaines, the victim's ex-boyfriend, was in the victim's home and that she had sent a text saying she was injured and Gaines was armed.

Officers surrounded the home with an armored vehicle until the victim came out, followed later by Gaines.

The victim told officers that Gaines had thrown her inside the home and told her "I am going to kill you." He then took her to the bedroom, where she says Gaines began choking her and slamming her into the floor.

Investigators later found a handgun and loaded magazine in Gaines's bag inside the home.

In 2009, Gaines was on the Oregon roster after being a highly recruited wide receiver coming out of community college, but did not appear in any games for Oregon. In 2010 he was ruled academically ineligible.
