Narcan, the lifesaving drug used to treat opioid overdoses, could soon be allowed on school campuses across the state.

The bill that would make this legal is currently working its way through the state legislature.

The idea is that by keeping it at school, you would cut down on wait times for the drug, which would have to be administered by emergency medical services.

Southwest Florida parents we spoke to say they support the idea and so does Tom who's now been sober for almost two decades.

"I was fortunate enough to have 18 years ago to have taken my last substance," says Tom Mouracade, Director of the Kimberly Center.

He adds that this law would help normalize the idea of Narcan use much like that of an Epi-pen.

If passed, the law would go into effect in July of 2020.
