DESOTO COUNTY, Fla., - 4 In Your Corner has confirmed the probation officer accused of yelling a racial slur at an Arcadia man last October is back on the job.

Tracy Keen worked for DeSoto County before being fired for what she said off the job.

An exchange caught on camera shows Keen approaching a man who was working to clean up hurricane debris. The witness says Keen got heated because their trucks were blocking the road.

In the video you can hear Keen use a racial slur.

When 4 In Your Corner first reached out to the Department of Corrections for an explanation, a spokesperson called her actions ‘distasteful’ and ‘uncalled for’, saying her actions don’t reflect the hundreds of other officers who work for the state.

A few weeks later, she was terminated.

However, she recently got her job back after fighting for it through her union.

A spokesperson with the State sent 4 In Your Corner this statement on Friday.

“The employee was dismissed, as previously reported. However, as a member of the union she arbitrated her case. While the rational for discipline was upheld, her termination was converted to an 80-hour suspension and the Department had to rehire the employee.”

Keen has been transferred to a different circuit.
