FHP: Driver dead after running stop sign in Lehigh Acres Tuesday

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Troopers say a 53-year-old man is dead after running a stop sign Tuesday night in Lehigh Acres.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Joel Boulevard and East 10th Street.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Cesar Carrales of Lehigh Acres was headed west on 10th Street and failed to stop at the stop sign at Joel Boulevard. Carrales drove his car directly into the path of a northbound pickup truck, which hit the car on the left side.

Carrales was flown to the hospital, where he died.

The truck’s driver was uninjured.
