DUI charges filed in wrong-way fatal crash on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral

UPDATE (8:45AM) -- Police have arrested a driver for DUI they say was driving the wrong way on Pine Island Road Monday night, causing a crash that killed two people.

35-year-old William Bohl is facing two charges of DUI manslaughter, as well as DUI with property damage and a probation violation warrant.

According to Cape Coral Police, Bohl was driving a pickup truck eastbound in the westbound lanes around 10:20 p.m. Monday and approached a minivan heading the proper way. Both drivers swerved toward the median in an attempt to avoid a collision. The two vehicles collided, causing the minivan to roll over onto its roof.

Both occupants of the minivan have passed away. The driver, 46-year-old Kevin Hamm, died at the scene. 20-year-old passenger Christian Hamm was trauma alerted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bohl sustained minor injury in the crash. He was treated at Lee Memorial Hospital and arrested upon release.

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Police are investigating a deadly crash in Cape Coral Monday night.

It happened at the intersection of Pine Island Road and Chiquita Boulevard around 10:40 p.m.

The Cape Coral Police Department says one person was killed in the rollover crash that appears to involve a pickup truck with a topper.
