FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The family of a man murdered in 1997 is sharing their thoughts after a woman was arrested in connection to his death.

The family of Keith Jones released a statement Monday which reads in part: "This tragedy has left an indelible scar in the hearts of all who loved Keith. We will not rest until all parties involved are apprehended and brought to justice."

Jones was found dead inside the former Tides Motel in Fort Myers in 1997. He was a recent graduate of the police academy and a Marine veteran.

Fort Myers Police arrested Michelle Ashley in connection to Jones’ death last week.

Police have said they are investigating other potential suspects.

The compete statement:

It is with profound emotion that we express our eternal gratitude to everyone involved in the arrest of Michelle Ashley aka Michelle Jackson. Namely, Chief Derrick Diggs, Sgt. Lesa Breneman and Det. Emily DeStefanis for taking the reins and spearheading the investigation into the murder of our son and brother, Keith Alan Jones. We would like to thank The State Attorney’s Office for assisting the Fort Myers Police Department with the hard work and countless hours that were invested into the investigation that brought Michelle to justice. This moment carries with it a particular degree of ambivalence, as we have toiled with the justice department for nearly twenty-three long, arduous years, to no avail. This tragedy has left an indelible scar in the hearts of all who loved Keith. We will not rest until all parties involved are apprehended and brought to justice.

With Sincerity,

The Jones Family.
