A fallen Riverdale high school football player was remembered inside a Lehigh Acres church.

"Lord, be a blessing to this team," said the pastor. "Lord, be a blessing to these family members," he added.

Zachary Polsenberg's jersey and helmet sat on top of the wooden casket. Every thought and prayer directed to the 16 year-old standout.

"I always thought of Zachary to be a gentle giant," said the pastor towards the congregation. "He had the biggest heart and cared for every person he came into contact with," he added.

Polsenberg was taken from his family and football family when he died during a practice almost a month ago. His teammates wore jerseys with the word 'family' printed on the back.

"Zachary was a fighter, he would give his all into everything that was put in front of him," said the pastor.

Polsenberg's teammates took the loss of their brother on the gird iron hard. Some with their faces in their hands as they fought back tears.

"Tonight there is so many emotions in the room," said the pastor. "Emotions like fear and what is going to happen next," he added as he tried to comfort the crowd.

The Raiders stood as one as they walked towards the casket for a final good bye.

Polsenberg dreamed of one day becoming a star in the NFL, but he already was a star to everyone inside the church.

"Zachary was always funny and awesome to be around, he always made you feel comfortable," the pastor added.
