UPDATE 10:35 A.M.:
On Feb. 2, around 10:20 p.m. a beige, 2004 Toyota truck drove off the roadway in the 2800 block of SW 36th Terrace, hit a house and drove into a canal. The driver of the vehicle was able to get out of the truck and flee the scene.

The Cape Coral Fire Department Divers checked the interior of the truck and found no one inside. Officers were unable to locate or identify the driver.

The truck was unable to be towed from the canal at the time of the call due to its location in the canal.

On Feb. 3, 2021 around 9:30 a.m. the Toyota truck was towed from the canal. The owner was located and reported the truck stolen.

Cape Coral Police responded to a call about a vehicle that went into a canal.

The vehicle was completely submerged. A tow truck is on scene.

Police tell Fox 4 the driver fled the scene.

A power pole was damaged, causing powerlines to droop down.

There is currently no danger, and there is still power going to the house and neighborhood.

LCEC is waiting for the car to be retrieved from the water before they replace the pole and fix the lines.

The driver is still at large.
