LEE COUNTY, Fla.-- A dog shot twice in Lehigh Acres is recovering nicely.

Undersheriff Carmine Marceno visited with "Seven" at Specialized Veterinary Services on Wednesday. The Lee County Sheriff's Office shared pictures on their Facebook page.

The dog is in foster care at the Big Hearts for Big Dogs Rescue in Fort Myers. She will be up for adoption in a few months.

"Seven" was shot back in August and found trying to swim across a canal to get away. Earlier this week, deputies arrested Derrick Lee Vasquez for the attack. He's charged with causing cruelty, pain and suffering to an animal.

Vasquez is now out on a $10,000 bond.
