NAPLES, Fla., - A Collier County ice cream shop is back open after temporarily being shut down due to health code violations.
Dairy Queen on Golden Gate Parkway in Naples had numerous violations including 3 high priority, 3 intermediate and 4 basic violations, according to a recent health report.
Among the violations — “accumulation of black/green mold-like substance on/around soda dispensing nozzles...Four live roaches found near the a/c handler and six live roaches in the kitchen near the microwaves and reach in cooler.”
Health officials temporarily closed the restaurant on September 13th due to the violations.
Many of them were corrected the next day but the latest report on the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation website shows a follow up inspection is required because the restaurant hadn't shown proof of state approved employee training.
When 4 In Your Corner reached out to the restaurant Wednesday, a manager declined to comment.
A spokesperson with Dairy Queen sent 4 In Your Corner the following statement:
“Food safety and quality, as well as the safety and well-being of our fans and staff, are our top priorities. All of our franchised restaurants are required to adhere to our strict food preparation and sanitation and health procedures that comply with or exceed county and state health regulations. All locations are also evaluated on a regular basis by our representatives. The franchisee of this location has worked with their local health department and have corrected the items noted in their most recent health report.”
