UPDATE: Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says arrest warrant has been issued for Nicholas Jerome Bell in connection with Saturday morning’s shooting on Coulton Avenue in Port Charlotte. CCSO says the Ccharges include: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

CCSO says Bell may still be in the Port Charlotte area, but has ties to North Port as well, especially in the area of Hungary Road. Adding he may be on foot or driving a red Mazda SUV.

CCSO emphasizes if anyone has any information on Bell’s whereabouts please call 911 immediately and DO NOT ATTEMPT TO APPROACH as Bell should be considered armed and dangerous.

UPDATE: as of 12 p.m. Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says the scene is no longer a barricaded subject situation and roadways have been reopened with the exception of Coulton Avenue.

UPDATE as of 10:22a.m. Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says SWAT is on scene negotiating with the person inside the house

Charlotte County Sheriff's Office ask that people avoid the area of Coulton Avenue in Port Charlotte as of 9:45a.m. as they state this is a very active scene and investigation.

CCSO says the victim was taken to a local hospital for injuries and that deputies are attempting to make contact with the individual believed to be inside.

Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says on Saturday at 6:40 a.m. a call came in stating the caller had heard multiple gunshots coming from a home on Coulton Avenue in Port Charlotte.

Deputies responded to the call and confirm one person is injured and another is believed to be inside the home.
