Victim identified in Del Prado crash in North Fort Myers

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE

Florida Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who died in a crash on Del Prado Boulevard on Thursday.

FHP says Robert Fiedler, 53 of North Fort Myers, was driving westbound on Delpardo when a vehicle driven by Jeremy Adam Goodson, 32, attempted to overtake slower moving traffic and traveled into the oncoming westbound lanes.

Goodson hit Fiedler head on causing Robert Fiedlers vehcile to turn in a clockwise position. The vehicle came to final rest on the north shoulder of Del Prado Boulevard North.

FHP says the crash is still under investigation.

One person is dead after a crash on Del Prado Boulevard in North Fort Myers Thursday evening.

It happened shortly after 7 P.M. near the intersection with Barbie Lane.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers report a man was driving a Dodge Ram east on Del Prado when he tried to go around a slow moving car. The report says the driver collided head first with a Chevy truck headed westbound on Del Prado. Then the truck caught on fire.

A 53-year-old North Fort Myers man in the Chevy died. Troopers have not released his identity yet.

The driver of the Ram and his passenger were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
