FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Lee County Schools are getting some new equipment that could save lives, thanks to a $150,000 donation from Lee Health.

At least one AED (Automated External Defibrillator) will soon be installed in every elementary school, middle school, and special center in Lee County, a total of 76.  They're already in county high schools.

Every school in the district will also have a trained Cardiac Response Team.

This comes after Fort Myers High School freshman Zac Syska nearly died last December after a sudden cardiac arrest while running.

Quick action from his coach and a defibrillator saved his life.

Installation of the AED's should be complete by the end of the month.
