For the second time in two months deputies are investigating a string of car break-ins in a south Fort Myers community.

The break-ins happened over the weekend at the Promenade at Reflection Lakes in the Cypress Lake area. The community is gated but they have "limited access" gates, meaning they are open during some parts of the day.

Andrew Myers lives there and his car was broken into.

"I get in and both of my glove compartments are open, both my sun visor flaps are down. My passenger door was just a little slightly cracked open," Myers said.

He said nothing of value was inside.

One woman told Four in Your Corner her car alarm went off Sunday morning at 3 AM, but nothing was missing from her car.

"That's obviously concerning. You wonder where they're coming from, who they are, what they're trying to accomplish," Myers said.

Management couldn't comment on the situation but did send residents this email:

Dear Valued Residents:
In our continuing effort to make our community a better place to love, we feel it is important to keep you informed. It was reported this week that a few automobiles were entered into not only in our community but several others in the area as well. It has been determined that majority were left unlocked. It is suggested that residents keep their vehicles locked at all times and to remove valuables when the vehicle is not attended. We encourage you to follow some safety guidelines and hopefully these tips will help to keep your property safe.
- Do not leave anything at all of value or interest in your vehicle
- Lock your vehicle; close the windows
- Remove ALL electronic devices

Myers said he feels safe living at Reflection Lakes, but adds changes could be made to make it more secure, like increasing lighting in the parking lot closing the limited access gates more often.

"It does close around 6 o'clock at night, but people can get in here at any time and hang around until night time," Myers said.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 239-477-1200.
