FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said it needs students' help after two separate shooting threats were made at Lee County schools in less than two weeks.

The most recent threat was made Sept. 17 at Cypress Lake Middle School. A student discovered the threat carved into the boys bathroom. On Sept. 5, a separate threat was made at Varsity Lakes Middle School in Lehigh Acres.

Crime Stoppers urged parents on Sunday to speak with their kids before returning to school Monday, and to come forward with any information that could help track down those responsible.

Both threats were found written in bathrooms on campus. This led to serious investigations but the threats were not deemed credible.

Real or not, a student at Cypress Lake Middle School said the thought of a shooting has her on edge.

"You don’t know if he was talking about the whole school or if he was talking about one person. And it can be scary if he actually did it, " said Hermione Portillo.

Crime Stoppers says whoever is found responsible could face felony charges.

If you have any information, you're urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000. Tips may also be made on the Crime Stoppers website or on the P3Tips mobile app.
