FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A community will gather Wednesday to remember Layla Aiken. She was the 8-year-old Cape Coral girl who was hit and killed at her bus stop last week.

The service will take place at Gallaher American Family Funeral Home in Fort Myers.

A lot of people are expected to stop by there to pay their respects. Layla's dad tells us this is a small funeral home, so he hopes everyone will not come all at once.

This will be a challenging day for friends and family of Layla as they say their final goodbyes.

On Monday, March 25th, Layla was waiting for her school bus in Cape Coral when a red pickup truck made a sharp turn and hit Layla on the corner of an intersection.

Police say the driver sped off after hitting Layla.

Right now, police have the truck and a person of interest, but have not made an arrest.

The funeral is from 3pm until 7pm Wednesday. If you plan on attending, the funeral home is right across the street from Lee Memorial Hospital on Cleveland Avenue.
