NAPLES, Fla. -- Vice President Mike Pence continued his Southwest Florida vacation in Collier County Thursday.

Deputies closed Tamiami Trail briefly as Pence traveled back and forth from the Old Collier Golf Club.

"I asked a policeman why did you stop everything? And he told me the Vice President is here," said Carmello Piazza, who owns Limoncello at the corner of Old 41 and U.S. 41.

Pence spent most of the past week in Sanibel, he left briefly to fly back to Washington for the swearing in of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.

The Vice-President's motorcade pulled out of the Old Collier Golf Club around 3:30 and headed north.

"Everything was stopped there was a lot of police around, nobody was moving it was very impressive," said restaurant worker Nico Fonicgeo.

Flight restrictions over Sanibel are scheduled to be lifted tomorrow, meaning Pence could be leaving the area.
