An email between the Marco Island city manager and a councilman is infuriating some residents.
Councilman Larry Honig says he received the email from suspended city manager Lee Niblock last month.
It said: "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre will be a little late this year, you will be pleased." It also said: "The insubordination didn't start with me, but unfortunately, I have to fix it."
"I received that email late at night, I was shocked. By the way if you saw the whole email, it's several hundred words, it rambles on," said Honig.
Some residents who spoke during the meeting accused Honig of colluding with Niblock of colluding to fire the police and fire chief.
Honig called those accusations "B.S."
"I have a longstanding record after 5 and a half years of service, I don't tell the city manager anything to do with human resources," said Honig.
Niblock was suspended with pay last month after allegations of battery surfaced. Now some thing this latest incident means it's time for the city to part ways with Niblock.
"I think the city actually realizes he's not going to be able to work out here, he's been disrespectful as far as the citizens, pulling all this stuff," said Paul Cantwell.
Niblock's attorney, Sawyer Smith says he wasn't aware of the email issue until Monday's meeting.
